The best wedding venues in Capri

Clifftop terraces, the Faraglioni rising from blue water and glamour that has never gone out of fashion. Here is where to marry on Capri, and how to do it well.

Last reviewed October 2025
Our verdict

Capri is glamour in concentrated form. The island is small, the views are extraordinary, and a wedding here feels effortlessly chic. For an intimate, design conscious celebration with a view that needs no styling, very few places compete.

The honest truth is scale and logistics. Most venues are clifftop hotel terraces that seat tens rather than hundreds, and everything arrives by boat then up the hill. This is a place for a smaller, considered guest list, not a sprawling party.

It is also expensive, and busiest in high summer. Marry in the shoulder months and plan transfers from the marina carefully.

The quick answer

Capri Palace in Anacapri is the grandest choice and the one best suited to larger guest lists of around a hundred and more, Hotel Caesar Augustus offers the most breathtaking clifftop terrace for an intimate wedding of up to roughly seventy, and Hotel Punta Tragara frames the Faraglioni like nowhere else. Marry in May, June or September, keep the list small, and plan boat and transfer logistics early.

When to marry here

The island has a rhythm.

Late May, June and September are the best windows, with warm seas, long light and the island a little calmer. July and August are gloriously busy but hot and crowded, and prices peak. From November to March many hotels close for the winter.

Cost and logistics

The practical things, told straight.

Getting there

Guests fly into Naples, then take a ferry or hydrofoil to Capri's Marina Grande, around fifty minutes by fast boat. From Sorrento the crossing is shorter. Private boat transfers are popular and add a sense of arrival, but plan around sea conditions.

Moving around the island

Capri has no private cars for visitors, so guests rely on the funicular, small open taxis and porters for luggage up the hill. This is part of the charm, but it makes transfers slow, so build generous time into the schedule and keep guests close to the venue.

The legal bit

In Italy a civil ceremony before the registrar is the binding form, with documents that must be apostilled and translated. Capri and Anacapri can host civil ceremonies at approved locations, though dates are limited. Many couples register at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on the island.

What it costs

Capri sits at the top of the Italian price scale, with indicative budgets from around €50,000 for an intimate wedding and well into six figures for a larger hotel celebration. Logistics and limited space drive cost. Treat any figure as a range, reviewed October 2025, and ask for an itemised quote.

Common questions

Capri, answered.

How big a wedding can Capri handle?

+

Capri is best for intimate weddings. Most hotel terraces seat tens rather than hundreds, so a guest list under around seventy fits the island naturally. Capri Palace in Anacapri is the most capable of a larger celebration of a hundred or so, but always confirm exact capacity with the venue.

When is the best time to marry on Capri?

+

Late May, June and September offer warm weather and long light without the full intensity of high summer. July and August are crowded and hot, with peak prices, and many hotels close from late autumn until spring, so plan well ahead for the shoulder months.

How do guests get to Capri?

+

Most fly into Naples and take a ferry or hydrofoil to Marina Grande, around fifty minutes by fast boat, or a shorter crossing from Sorrento. There are no private cars on the island, so guests use the funicular and small taxis. Plan transfers and luggage handling carefully.

Can we marry legally on the island?

+

Civil ceremonies can be held at approved locations in Capri and Anacapri, with Italian paperwork that must be apostilled and translated. Dates and locations are limited, so many couples complete the legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on the island.

How much should we budget?

+

Capri is among Italy's most expensive wedding destinations. Realistically from around €50,000 for an intimate celebration and well into six figures for a larger hotel wedding, driven by limited space and complex logistics. Always ask for an itemised quote.
