Vineyard and winery wedding venues in Sicily

Sicily is one of the great wine islands, from the black volcanic soil of Etna to the sun struck vineyards of the west. Its wine estates and historic baglio resorts make some of the most characterful wedding venues in Italy.

Last reviewed March 2026. Capacities and prices are indicative and should be confirmed with each venue.
Our verdict

A Sicilian vineyard wedding is a true working wine estate, whether the dark volcanic terraces of Etna or a historic baglio among western vines.

What you gain is wine country with real character, the estate's own bottles on the table and a landscape that feels wilder and warmer than the mainland.

What you trade is convenience, since the best estates lie a fair drive from the airports, so build in transfer time and lean on a local planner.

The quick answer

A vineyard wedding in Sicily means a working wine estate. Monaci delle Terre Nere is a boutique organic estate on the slopes of Etna, intimate and design led. Baglio Soria near Trapani is a historic seventeenth century estate ringed by vineyards and olive groves. Baglio Oneto above Marsala is a wine resort with garden terraces and big sea views. Numbers run from a small party to several hundred, and May, June, September and the early harvest are the kindest times.

Why marry in a vineyard in Sicily

One of the great wine islands of the Mediterranean.

Sicily has made wine for nearly three thousand years, and the modern island offers two very different vineyard worlds. On the eastern side, Etna grows vines in black volcanic soil at altitude, producing elegant wines and giving weddings a backdrop of the smoking volcano and the sea. In the west, around Trapani and Marsala, broad sun struck vineyards and old fortified estates called baglĂ® hold larger, warmer celebrations. Both put the estate's own wine on your table and a landscape that needs little dressing.

The estates that lead our list are genuine working wineries. Monaci delle Terre Nere is a boutique organic wine estate on the slopes of Etna, a design led retreat of suites and gardens for a more intimate celebration. Baglio Soria, a historic seventeenth century estate near Trapani, sits among more than a hundred hectares of vineyards and olive groves with rooms across the old buildings. Baglio Oneto, a wine resort above Marsala, opens its garden terraces and great sea views to larger parties.

The honest caution is distance. Sicily rewards the couple who treat it as a destination, with estates a fair drive from Catania or Palermo and guests who will need transfers and a couple of nights nearby. Choose May, June or September for warm light and a green landscape, or the early harvest for the vineyards at their most alive, and a Sicilian wine estate gives a wedding warmth, character and a glass of something the land made just outside the door.

Three wine estates, ranked on merit.

We rate these for the character of the estate, the quality of the wine and the table, and how workable each one is for a destination weekend. The order is our honest view, and each is a real, working Sicilian winery that hosts weddings.

Cost and logistics

The practical things, told straight.

Sicily is gentler on the budget than the headline mainland destinations, but a wine estate weekend still adds up once you count rooms, catering and transfers across the island. Treat every figure as indicative and confirm directly, as the season and the guest count move the total far more than the venue fee alone.

What it costs

As an indicative March 2026 guide, a Sicilian vineyard wedding for 60 to 180 guests often lands between EUR 40,000 and EUR 150,000 all in. A boutique Etna estate for a small party can sit lower, while a grand baglio takeover with full catering rises from there.

Getting there

Catania serves the east and Etna, Palermo and Trapani the west. Allow up to an hour or more from the airport to the estates, plan guest transfers, and book accommodation nearby since many estates suit a multi night stay.

The legal bit

Civil, religious and symbolic ceremonies are all possible in Sicily. Many couples complete the legal step at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in the vines, while some town halls allow civil weddings nearby. Confirm the current paperwork before you commit.

When to marry here

May, June and September give warm light and a green landscape, while the early harvest in late summer brings the vineyards to life. High summer is very hot, especially in the west, so the shoulder months are the safer choice.

Planners and vendors

A wine estate weekend rewards a planner who knows the island.

Sicily is large and its best estates are spread across it, so the right planner is the one who knows the roads, the suppliers and the difference between an Etna estate and a western baglio. They will match your numbers to the right winery, then handle the transfers, the catering and the rhythm of an island weekend. Tell us your style and guest count and we will introduce the right one.

Common questions

Vineyard weddings in Sicily, answered.

Etna or western Sicily for a wine wedding?

+

Etna is cooler, higher and more dramatic, with boutique estates such as Monaci delle Terre Nere suited to intimate parties. The west around Trapani and Marsala is warmer and more expansive, with larger baglio estates such as Baglio Soria and Baglio Oneto for bigger celebrations.

How many guests do these estates hold?

+

From an intimate party at a boutique Etna estate up to several hundred at a large western baglio, where the gardens and halls take big numbers. Confirm the seated capacity for your chosen estate and layout directly.

Can guests stay on the estate?

+

At several, yes. Monaci delle Terre Nere and Baglio Soria both offer rooms on site, often with a minimum stay around a wedding, with more accommodation nearby for larger parties. Confirm the room count with each estate.

Will the estate wine be on the menu?

+

Usually, yes, and it is one of the joys of marrying on a working winery. Each estate pours its own bottles, often with a tasting for guests. Discuss the wine list and any corkage rules with the estate when you book.

When is the best time to marry here?

+

May, June and September give warm light and a green landscape, and the early harvest brings the vineyards alive. High summer is very hot, especially in the west, so the shoulder months are the safer choice.
