Our verdict

Seville's grandest hotel, a Moorish palace of tiled courtyards and arches built for royalty, made for a city wedding with real occasion.

Hotel Alfonso XIII stands in the heart of Seville, beside the cathedral, the Alcazar and the university. It was commissioned by King Alfonso XIII to house dignitaries for the 1929 Ibero American Exhibition, and it was built in a sumptuous Andalusian style, with horseshoe arches, painted tiles, carved wood and a vast central courtyard. Now a Luxury Collection hotel, it offers a couple the full theatre of old Seville, palace architecture and grand salons, a few steps from the city's greatest monuments.

The honest counsel is that this is a city hotel rather than a country estate, so the celebration lives in its courtyard, gardens and function rooms rather than across open land. Seville is also famously hot in high summer, when a daytime outdoor moment becomes hard work. Marry here for the architecture, the central location and the sense of grandeur, plan around the heat by favouring spring, autumn or evenings, and lean on the hotel's spaces for a polished, formal day.

The setting

The hotel is built around a grand central courtyard ringed by arcaded galleries, with painted ceramic tiles, marble and carved detail throughout in the Andalusian manner. Beyond it lie a series of elegant function rooms and salons, named for the city and region, along with gardens and terraces that soften the formality. The whole building feels like a working palace, which is exactly the impression a wedding here trades on.

For a wedding the courtyard and salons give a sequence for a ceremony, a reception and a seated banquet, with the function rooms configurable for sizeable numbers. Couples often pair the hotel with a ceremony at one of Seville's churches or civic spaces nearby, then return for the celebration, all within the historic centre.

Logistics, told straight
Getting there
Seville has its own airport and a high speed rail link to Madrid in around two and a half hours. The hotel is central, so most guests can walk to the cathedral and old town, which makes it easy for a city based celebration.
Scale and use
The function rooms can be configured to seat up to around 350 guests, with smaller salons for intimate numbers. As a working hotel it does not offer full exclusive use in the way a private estate does, so confirm which rooms are yours and the exact capacity for your plan when you enquire.
Where guests stay
Guests can stay in the hotel itself or in the many hotels of central Seville close by, which keeps the party together and walkable. Reserve room blocks early, as the city is busy in spring and around its festivals.
The heat
Seville is among the hottest cities in Europe in midsummer, when a daytime outdoor ceremony is uncomfortable. Favour spring, autumn or a later evening celebration, and use the cool shaded courtyard and air conditioned salons for the key moments.

Plan it well

A city wedding in Seville rewards a planner who knows the hotel, the nearby churches and civic venues, and the suppliers of the old town. We will introduce one who knows Andalusia well.

What it costs and what to know

The practical things, told plainly.

What it costs

Pricing is on application and set per event around room hire, catering and any accommodation. As an indicative January 2026 guide, a wedding here sits in the upper bracket for a Seville city hotel, a five to six figure commitment in euros depending on numbers and production. Treat that as a range to confirm directly with the hotel.

The legal bit

A legally binding civil marriage in Spain for non residents can be complex, so many international couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here, while Catholic couples may marry in a Seville church. A planner will confirm the current process for your nationality.

Capacity in practice

The function rooms can be arranged for up to around 350 guests, with smaller salons and the courtyard for intimate gatherings. The right configuration depends on your numbers and the spaces you take, so confirm it for your plan with the hotel.

When to marry here

April, May and October give warm, pleasant days well suited to the courtyard and gardens. Midsummer is intensely hot in Seville, so if you marry then keep the day indoors or to the evening and use the shaded, cooler spaces.
